This tutorial was written by Chaughna on May 26th 2008 any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental, completely my own work. Please do not steal my tutorial and use it as your own, if you want to share it then please link people to my group. Thank you.
I used PSP9 but it should work with other versions.
Supplies needed:-
I used scrap kit from Nitwit called Americana, as well as the add on papers Neighbors. This tut would work well with just about any other kit you like as well, see my other example at the bottom. Vix Mask 147 HERE
I used the artwork of Suzanne Woolcott under my license number. You may purchase her tubes/images from AMI HERE
Font for copyright is 5th Grader & font for text is A&S Cricket, both are free to my knowledge. Lets Go!
Open a new 600 x 600 transparent image. Set your foreground to black & your background to transparent. Draw out a circle about 450 to 500 pixels in size. Center in your canvas & convert to raster layer. We will be covering this up & then deleting it. HINT: Use your ruler as a guide. Start at 100x100 & pull it out to 500x500. Should be perfect *wink* I am using both an image & a tube from Suzanne Woolcott. Please feel free to use what ever you like though. Copy your image to your mouse & paste as a new layer behind your circle you just drew. Resize & center to your liking. Back to your circle layer, click inside your circle with your magic wand. Activate your image layer. Expand selection by 3. Invert. Hit the delete key on your keyboard. Select none. Back to your circle layer. Open up your button of choice. Copy. Paste as a new layer. Resize by 25% & however you need to, to get it proportioned to your liking. Sharpen & add a drop shadow. Copy it to your mouse. Place it at the top of your circle. Paste it around your image as you wish, see my taggie for an idea. This first one is the flag button: button_flag_maryfran. Repeat with second button of choice, I used button_stars_maryfran. Place in between your first buttons all around your circle as well. Open up your stars, one by one place them all around your circle as well. Using all three colors, make little star trios. Remember to sharpen & drop shadow each one. Copy your tube & resize to tiny, place in between your buttons & stars as well to fill in the gaps all the way around your circle as well. See my taggie for placement ideas & rotation if you wish. Delete your circle layer...... Mighty cute, huh? LOL! With your elipse tool. Foreground black & background transparent, draw out a circle over your image, just bigger than your total image & newly made border. Our text will go on this layer. If you have show nodes checked, you can resize this circle & place it where you want once it is drawn out simply by dragging it where you want. Now for the text. Again, I used A&S Cricket, but any fat font will do. Foreground black, background white. Stroke width 1 or 2 depending, I used 1. Add your text to the top of the circle. If you hover over your line you will se an A in a boat. This means your text will place on the line. Click. You can resize your text by pulling your corners as you wish. You can center your text by: Objects, Align, Horizontal Center in Canvas. On your layer palette, click the plus sign next to the text layer you just added. X out the eye on the ellipse layer. Right click on your vector text & convert to raster layer. Now the fun part. Open several different papers from you kit. Resize each one to 250 pixels. Seamless tile at default settings. With your magic wand, mode Add (shift), click on the white in a few different letters. Using a paper you just played with, flood fill those. Select none & now pick a few different letters & so forth till all your letters are filled with pretty papers. Inner bevel at these settings: Bevel 2 Width 5 Smoothness 31 Depth 5 Anbience 0 Shininess 8 Color White Angle 315 Intensity 38 Elevation 42 Side Note: You may want to save these settings as I use them a lot. It's called Puff.
Add your drop shadow. Add your text to the bottom of your image & repeat with your papers fills. Inner bevel & drop shadow. Choose one last paper of choice for your masked background. I used bg_navystars_maryfran. Resize to 600 pixels, copy & paste as new layer on your very bottom layer, should be your blank raster 1. New mask from image & use your mask here. I used Vix mask 147, but of course, use what you like. Merge that group. You may want to resize this layer by 110% or so. Resize to 500 pixels with all layers checked. Add your copyright. Save as JPEG (F12).
Your done!
Thank you for doing this tutorial and I hope you enjoyed.
